Overland Assessments conducted a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment of the 150-acre Sunoco Polyethylene Plant in LaPorte, Texas. Sunoco was soliciting contractors to demolish the facility. Houston-based demolition contractor G.S.D. began negotiating with Sunoco to purchase the property in its entirety, and asked Overland to assess the current and future potential environmental liability associated with the plant. Overland completed the Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment in eight days, providing G.S.D. with an assessment of the current environmental conditions at the plant, as well as a valuation of a phase 2 investigation and potential future phase 3 environmental cleanup. Overland Assessments helped G.S.D. understand the extent of their potential environmental liability and thereby understand their negotiating position and effectively manage their business risk.
