Dairy Queen - Energy Code LaPorte, Texas Project Manager: AndrewThiess Owner: Pat's Dairy Queen Owner Contact: Patrasia Hefley The Dairy Queen in LaPorte, Texas, is a popular venue located in downtown LaPorte, near the high school and football stadium. In September, 2008, the building was virtually destroyed when Hurricane Ike made landfall near Galveston. The owner decided to restore the building using insurance settlement funds. Overland Assessments provided the 3rd party International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) plan review and inspections required by the city, working with the city building official, the owner and the contractor to minimize the cost of meeting the energy code requirements. The Dairy Queen re-opened for business in April 2009. Overland has provided 3rd party IECC plan review and inspection on numerous restaurants including McDonalds, Chuck-E-Cheese, IHOP, Subway, Bullritos, Taqueria La Fonda, NY Chinese Buffet, Wok-On-Wheels, Donut Shop, Tutti-Frutti, and numerous others.
